Who are we?

Appetite for Change exists to challenge the systems, assumptions, and silences that shape how we understand, talk about, and respond to eating, feeding, body, and care. We centres the needs, realities, and perspectives of people who are often overlooked, excluded, pathologised, or dismissed, such as neurodivergent, queer, trans and gender diverse, chronically ill, disabled, and otherwise marginalised people.

neurodivergent people, trans and queer people, chronically ill and disabled people, people in larger bodies, people navigating poverty and institutional harm, and those surviving racism, trauma, and oppression.

neurodivergent people, disabled and chronically ill people, trans and queer people, people in larger bodies, people navigating trauma, poverty, and systemic harm.

We challenge the narrow, pathologising, and often violent ways that mainstream systems and perspectives approach eating, feeding, “health”, and body, and work instead toward care that is accessible, affirming, empowering, and rooted in justice.

Through our conference, trainings, resources, consultation, and community offerings, Appetite for Change brings together lived and professional expertise to reshape how we understand and support eating and feeding in all their complexity.

This project exists because the "gold standard" isn't good enough — and because better is not only possible, but already being built.ke a minute to write an introduction that is short, sweet, and to the point. If you sell something, use this space to describe it in detail and tell us why we should make a purchase. Tap into your creativity. You’ve got this.

What We Offer

2026 Appetite for Change Conference

Held online in March 2026, this conference is the first of its kind. It will focus on the intersections of eating, feeding, and body, among neurodivergent, queer, trans, gender diverse, chronically ill, disabled, and otherwise marginalised people — whose voices, needs, and experiences have pathologised and dismissed for far too long — and explore vital considerations for truly affirming care.

Combining lived experience, community wisdom, and affirming research, our works challenge dominant narratives, unpack systemic harm, and invite more inclusive, affirming ways of thinking and practicing.
